Woke up this morning to 65 degree weather out. Awesome! Headed up to the farm and decided to tack Sunny up and take her out with another boarder for a short trail ride. We had a nice little ride. We encountered a few things that I wasn't sure how she'd do with since she is still pretty green and hasn't had a lot of miles put on her yet. She did great though and I was very proud of her. She battled some hills, ditches, super soft land that sunk here and there under our weight, a stream, some deep water in another stream, lots of woods, a road, two lawnmowers going full force one that was less then 10 feet away from her and I, a motorcycle roaring around down a hill on a street, etc. She took it all in like a pro though I could tell she wasn't to sure of her self a few times but her and I are doing very well and I know she knows that I'm not going to lead her into any kind of danger or into a steam that may gobble her right on up.

We got back to the farm rode around there for a bit, cooled them down, untacked them and gave both horses a bath. I didn't think of taking my camera along with me, but we took a few pictures once we got back to the farm.

I only started using PS the other day (finally got a copy), so I'm kind of flying blind in terms of features, quality, how these look on other people's screens, etc. ANY feedback/suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. :)

I know this isn't going to be exciting to most anyone, but I had to squee about it to someone who would understand.

My horse Indy and I are getting ready to meet a trainer for the first time (a result of this post), and I've been working hard getting us both in shape, or at least a shape that doesn't resemble a circle. He's been doing well, though we have our battles.

One of the big battles has been getting him to pick up his right lead. Like at all. He's fine picking it up without me on him, but when he's under saddle, you can just about forget it.

UNTIL TODAY, OMG

I started our canter work to the right, and first he picked up the wrong lead, so we went with it for a little while because at least he got a canter. This time I didn't back down though, and asked him for it again--and he stepped right into it from the walk! We went around the ring once (I didn't want to push it) and then about killed him with pets and hugs. Then we went to the left, and he did the same thing! He picked up the correct lead to the left straight from the walk. This is the first time we've ever gotten both correct leads in one ride. I am so proud of him! He got lots of cookies and was spoiled rotten after we finished.

And because you all want to see his adorable face... )

Snow Patrol - The Lightning Strike Part 1
What If This Storm Ends?

My sister bought Up To Now, Snow Patrol's latest compilation cd. There was a couple of new songs (really love Dark Roman Wine and the live versions of Chasing Cars and Run), but the best thing about the cd is the third disc and the full-length animation video for The Lightning Strike. It's superb. About 1 minute into the video I went 'this needs to be picspammed. Now' and so I've been doing just that the past few days. You'll notice the pic above says 'part 1' and for damn good reason, I went a little crazy.

You'll get parts 1 & 2 now and part 3 later (it's the longest section) so as not to kill everyone's internet. yes, even the broadband people :) Still, even as is it's not dial-up friendly. Click the images (or the titles) to get to each part.

I know this is old news, but I've been scouring the net for this clip and am stoked that I finally found it. Figure a bunch of you might enjoy it. EDIT: Apparently this might NOT be old news! AWESOME.

I made this for a challenge at another comm, and I thought it would be worth sharing here, too! I'd prefer you leave comments at my original post (click the banner above), but I'll lock it in a few days so I had to post the spam here as well.

yes, i'm a genius. )

I love watching the main titles of a tv-show. I can watch them over and over.
So I decided to do a picspam based on main titles made by
DIGITALKITCHEN.

True Blood, Six Feet Under, Nip/Tuck, Dexter, House, Ghost Whisperer

I was debating a long time over what to do for picspammy's Something Different challenge - I've pretty much run the gamut of subjects, and there's not too much that I love that I haven't picspammed at some point. But then over the past few days some people started posting costume-spams, and I realised: yes! That's what I want to do! Thank you! I am, if you don't know, a total costume junkie - I really considered going into it as a career, and would have if my construction skills weren't basically zero - and I've spent many an hour lusting over the pretty on The Costumer's Guide to Movie Costumes. So this is my tribute to that site, and to historical costuming in general.

I love movie posters. Seriously. I cannot get enough of them—half the time, I don’t even care if the movie is good or bad, the poster is what I want. They can really make or break a movie. I don’t necessarily have the funds, time, or wall space right now to collect, but I am guilty of many an impulse buy when going through posters.

So I figured, hey? Why not use this picspam to do just that? I haven’t seen some of these movies, but I have seen the posters—damn, are they good. These are just some of my very favorite posters, no rhyme, reason, or theme. If you’re expecting order…don’t.

This is really a longshot, but....

Two years ago our farm's stallion was sent to a small facility to be broken out. It was in Alliance, Ohio, and I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the place, the owner, or the working student that actually broke out the stallion. It's on the same road and very close to Mt Union College; in fact it's on the same road as the football field (you could see it from the barn). The working student was a 19 year old guy (so now he'd be 21) and he did an AMAZING job training. He placed high in AQHA Youth show the previous year in Barrels and Poles, and was qualified for the world show at the time he was breaking out the horse in the same events.

The reason I ask- sure, I could drive an hour out of my way and find the barn and go ask if the same people are there, or I can hope that someone would know maybe what I'm talking about and help me out. The working student was so good with the stallion that I would love to recommend people at my barn who have tried so many other people with terrible results.

Thank you for any help, even though this is like such a vague post. I want to say the WS's name was Brandon or Brendan or something like that, but I really don't remember.
